Crossbasket Castle Wedding in Scotland | Sarah & Dominic
Some weddings stay with you long after you’ve packed away your cameras, and Sarah and Dominic’s destination wedding at Crossbasket Castle in Glasgow, Scotland was one of those days.
The journey itself felt like part of the story. An eight-hour drive led me north to Scotland, where I stayed at the hotel connected to the castle the night before—allowing the wedding day to begin calmly, without rush, and fully immersed in the atmosphere of this incredible location.
Against all expectations, the weather was warm and beautifully sunny, making it possible for Sarah and Dominic to hold their ceremony outdoors.
From the very beginning, the day was filled with heartfelt moments. One of the most emotional highlights was Sarah’s first look with her dad. It was deeply moving—one of those moments that unfolds naturally and reminds me why documentary storytelling is so powerful. Their children played key roles throughout the day, weaving laughter and love into every part of the celebration and making the wedding feel incredibly personal.
The ceremony itself was full of emotion, happy tears, and meaningful glances and just when guests thought the moment had ended, surprise bagpipes began to play after the ceremony—an unforgettable Scottish touch that brought smiles, cheers, and a real sense of celebration.
The reception took place inside the castle, where ancient stone walls echoed with funny, emotional speeches that had everyone laughing one moment and wiping away tears the next.
As evening approached, we stepped outside for a few romantic portraits, making the most of the soft light before the celebrations moved inside once more. The night ended with dancing to a live band within the castle, filling the historic space with energy, music, and joy.
Sarah and Dominic’s wedding was more than a destination—it was a story of love, family, and meaningful moments, told across one unforgettable day in Scotland. Photographing it in a romantic, storytelling, documentary style was an absolute honour.
If you’re planning a destination or local wedding in Hertfordshire and value natural, documentary photography, I’d love to tell your story!
